Deemed or Doomed University..??.

As the drama continues to unfold on the issue of deemed universities issue, it is still unclear what the government is trying to do.

The report given by the government on 44 institutes being removed from the deemed university status has come with a great shock in educational circles. Not many could believe that some of the names in the list are there inspite of good infrastructure and faculty.

Some of the colleges like DY Patil, Christ college, Jaypee Noida have good infrastructure and faculty. But alleging family fiefdom their names were put in the list. This resulted in an overreaction from the students who for sometime could not understand what was going on.

Students were angry in these colleges and many colleges saw students indulging in destruction of property rather than trying to understand what is going on. Like in Jaypee Noida students protested by putting on fire various objects. NDTV also came here but were not allowed to enter the premises.

Kapil Sibal said today that the students of these colleges will not suffer but the funda of deemed university would have to go. This statement didn’t come as a surprise as nearly 2 lakh students are currently awaiting their fate to be decided by the HRD minister.

All these colleges called upon their students and explained the state of affairs. The management of these colleges stated the turn of events as mere political. They appealed to the students to continue studying and leave this whole issue to them to resolve.

As time passes we will know for certain what is to happen with these universities. “As of today these universities are deemed but who knows tomorrow it will be doomed”. This was the general reaction of the students of these colleges.
