AIEEE 2010 – How to prepare in last months?

This year a record 8 lakh students will sit in the AIEEE exam competing for more than 100 colleges both government and private. So how to get a good rank in such a fierce competition? Lets have a look.

Going by the trend of last 4 years of AIEEE I can surely say the paper will be that bit easier than expected. But scoring a rank will still not be easy. You will require to have a good strike rate. What I mean by a good strike rate is that if you attempt 100 questions, be sure to get 90 right. Or else don’t attempt that much. Well lets now come on how should you prepare now.

Starting with Physics, you should make sure your mechanics part is quite good. I have said earlier in my post on how to prepare for IIT. But this is AIEEE and believe it or not mechanics plays an important role in deciding rank no matter what exam it is. I had in my time solved the book Multiple Choice Questions on Physics. That helped me lot to gain confidence. You can get this book anywhere for around 100 rupees or so.

What matters in AIEEE is that you have speed. Accuracy will come with practice. Solve as many MCQ books you can put your hands on. Nuclear physics also is an important chapter. And its easy to score in that one. Other easy portions include gravitation and electrostats. Go through the NCERT book atleast once. Look at the problems marked in blue color. Over the years I have seen questions in AIEEE straight forward from the NCERT book.

For chemistry I will suggest the one and only Dinesh Objective chemistry. Solve this book in the last months and be sure of a good rank. Solving it gives tremendous confidence.  Solve the physical chemistry part as it requires practice. You can solve NCERT for organic and Inorganic part.

NCERT book is the best book in the market for AIEEE organic and inorganic syllabus. The case here is same as it is with Physics. Questions are straight forward put in from NCERT book. Specially the colored ones. Whatever you do just look at the colored questions in NCERT atleast once. There is good chance that you may even not have to solve the questions.

For mathematics you just can’t rely on one book. I am afraid to say but NCERT is just not enough to get good marks in AIEEE maths paper.  Try MCQ books in mathematics. Try to develop speed with accuracy. Practice as much as you can and have a good strike rate. this is one paper where students waste an awful lot of time.

Prepare the calculus part well. AIEEE maths is easy but to solve quickly you will have to have a good analytical skill. Try to eliminate wrong answers when you are stuck in one question. Have a look at the geometry of the question if a figure is involved.

Just practice hard and be confident of yourselves. Best of luck to all.
