Hi, I am back again. I have decided to join IISER mohali. And I have also got an admission there via jee stream. I visited the campus and I found the labs and faculty quite impressive. My counselor at iiser mohali did his post doctoral research in MIT,usa. You can find such people without any effort in IISERs.

My current views:
Just want to tell everybody here that career building totally depends on you. Most students going to engineering colleges leave engineering and enter management or finance sector. Under Graduation should not be considered as choosing your profession completely. What I believe is that you should take academics and faculty quite seriously. From a place like IISER you can atleast be assured of a good Academic placement for further MS specialization of for PhDs. I dont think there is any alternative to studies in any field you choose. Even if you are in IITs you ll plan for something after it too coz a package of 7-8 lacs wont keep you happy forever. At IISER where students are doing there internships in foreign universities like Frankfurt, Caltech etc. and in indian places like CMI,ISI, TIFR etc. you can be assured of a solid building of an impressive CV at least which means a lot! (AFAIK) and also of good intellectual development.. u can think urself this how much more developed u were when u prepared for jee .. now at IISERs u ll be straining ur brain with sciences and that too research oriented and with world class faculty (at least best in india) you grow a lot intellectually.
Another good thing at IISER is which u ll find now where else is Inter disciplinary Rsearch. That is you dont need to stick with 1 science subject. At IISERs you can study Physics along with chemistry (or any other) and even combination like Maths and biology are also possible or more subjects can be included if you desire for. So you are not just going for 1 science subject You ll be unifying the entire Science at IISERs.
About me: I am interested in studying theoretical physics, mathematics and programming. I like analyzing things like converting a given physical situation into a mathematically solvable condition .. in creating programs to solve more complex situations.. so you can say a bit oriented towards applied maths too. I dont think there is any place better than IISERs for studying science. The atmosphere there is wonderful (at least in mohali).
Now about what will u do later in life?
I know about maths.. mathematicians are in demand everywhere. You can easily jot out good stuff on ur CV at IISER which will be a good proof for you to show ur aptitude in mathematics. Publish some papers do some research. Be a part of some good projects with your field. You can get good recommendations too from here. The contacts of the profs can work for you in getting admissions in some good foreign uni probably the Ivy leagues. Do your specialization there. Then earning money wont be a problem at all.
And also its not just about earning money.. It is also about having fun.. if you enjoy science this is your place.

I have scored 91.8% in HSC and belongs to OBC and eligible to apply for direct admission in iiser. I have applied Tamil Nadu Engineering counciling also cut off is 187.5/200. I am little bit confused whether i should take any division in engg or taking one year extended classroom programme at FIItJee to appear for iitjee or in iiser. Kindly suggest what should i choose for?
